Photography 101

Understanding your Camera’s Function and Features

This class is for anyone who wants to better their understanding of their camera in order to improve the pictures created with it. The only requirement is to have a digital camera (compact camera, mirror-less camera, or DSLR).

This class covers the basics of exposure, the features of your camera and how to use them. We will discuss the sensor, memory cards, focus modes, metering modes, white balance, lens selection (including the range of your zoom lens), and the exposure modes (Auto, Portrait, Landscape, Sports, Close-Up, Night, Movie, Aperture Priority, Shutter Priority, etc.) The goal is to provide an understanding of your camera and to improve the photographs that you take.

Hand-outs will be provided.

This class is approximately 2-hours in length in one session and conducted in an informal, but structured manner. Questions are encouraged during and after the class.

The first person to enroll determines the day and start time of the class. It will then be posted on the web-site for others to join. (Additional students will lower the fee.) The maximum limit to the class is 6 students.
